Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 25, 2026

Overview

Probe Toolkit ("the Service") is operated by Patchen Technologies LLC. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

The short version: we collect as little as possible, process data client-side whenever we can, and never sell your data to anyone.

What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not require accounts, logins, or registration of any kind.
  • We do not collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information (except when you voluntarily provide it via the feedback form).
  • We do not use third-party tracking pixels, analytics services, or behavioral advertising.
  • We do not build user profiles or behavioral models.
  • We do not sell, share, or transfer any user data to third parties.
  • We do not store your tool inputs (what you type into tools is never logged).
  • We do not log IP addresses in our analytics system.

Client-Side Processing

Many of our tools operate entirely within your browser using JavaScript. When you use a client-side tool (such as the Password Generator, Base64 Encoder, JSON Formatter, Hash Generator, or Color Converter), your input data is processed locally on your device. It never leaves your browser and is never transmitted to our servers.

Server-Side Processing

Some tools require server-side lookups to function (such as DNS Lookup, WHOIS, IP Geolocation, and SSL Certificate Checker). For these tools:

  • Your query (for example, a domain name or IP address) is sent to our server via an encrypted HTTPS connection.
  • The query is processed in memory only. It is not written to disk, stored in a database, or logged.
  • Results are returned to your browser and the server-side data is discarded immediately.

Cookies

Probe Toolkit uses a small number of first-party cookies. For visitors in the EU/EEA/UK, a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) will request consent before any advertising cookies are set.

Cookie Name Category Purpose Duration Type
probe_version Functional Stores the last site version you visited. Used to notify returning visitors about updates. Contains only a version number. 1 year First-party
probe_visitor Analytics A randomly generated anonymous identifier used solely to distinguish unique visitors from returning visitors in aggregate traffic statistics. Contains no personal information and cannot identify you. 1 year First-party

Google AdSense may set additional third-party cookies for advertising purposes. These are managed by Google's consent platform for EU/EEA/UK visitors. You can also delete all cookies through your browser settings at any time.

Local Storage

Probe Toolkit uses your browser's localStorage (not cookies) for two purposes:

  • Theme preference: Remembering whether you selected dark or light mode.
  • Recently used tools: Storing a list of your recently visited tools for quick access on the homepage.

This data is stored entirely in your browser and is never transmitted to our servers.

Analytics

Probe Toolkit uses a self-hosted, privacy-first analytics system. We track:

  • Page views: Which pages are visited (path only). No IP addresses are recorded.
  • Tool usage: When a tool action button is clicked, we record which tool was used.
  • Referrer domain: The domain that referred you (e.g., "google.com"), stripped to just the domain name.

The probe_visitor cookie contains no personal information — it is a random string used only for aggregate counting. It cannot identify you or track your activity across other websites.

Analytics data is stored on our own servers and is never shared with third parties. Aggregate statistics are displayed publicly on our live stats page. No individual user data is ever exposed.

Hosting

Probe Toolkit is hosted on Hostinger. Hostinger may collect basic server access logs as part of standard hosting operations. We do not access or use these logs. This data is governed by Hostinger's privacy policy.

Advertising

Probe Toolkit displays advertisements through Google AdSense. Ads are only loaded after you consent to Advertising cookies via the cookie banner.

  • Google AdSense uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site and other websites.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings or by changing your cookie preferences via "Cookie Settings" in the footer.
  • If you decline Advertising cookies, the AdSense script will not load and no ad cookies will be set.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

California residents: ad-based data sharing through Google may constitute a "sale" of personal information under CCPA. You can opt out by declining Advertising cookies in the cookie banner.

Your Rights

For All Users

  • Delete all cookies and localStorage data through your browser settings at any time.
  • Use your browser's built-in controls to block specific cookies or all cookies.

For EU/EEA/UK Residents (GDPR)

A Google-certified consent management platform will request your consent before any advertising cookies are set. You can change your consent at any time through the consent prompt.

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you also have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of any data we hold about you.
  • Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your data, including any feedback submissions and analytics data associated with your probe_visitor cookie ID.
  • Withdraw consent: Revoke advertising consent at any time through the Google consent prompt.
  • Complaint: Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

For California Residents (CCPA)

Ad-based data sharing through Google AdSense may constitute a "sale" of personal information under CCPA. You can opt out by declining personalized ads when prompted, or by visiting Google Ads Settings.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data through the feedback form, contact us and we will delete it.
