Getting Started
The fastest way to use Probe Toolkit
Go to the homepage and paste anything into the search bar — an IP address, domain name, URL, MAC address, JWT token, or just about anything else. Probe Toolkit will detect what you pasted and show you results from every relevant tool at once. No clicking through menus, no guessing which tool you need.
You can also go directly to /search and paste your input there for the full multi-tool results view.
Using individual tools
If you want a specific tool, use the navigation menu at the top to browse by category (DNS, Network, Email, Web, Security, Developer), or use the tool cards on the homepage. Enter your query, click Probe, and results appear instantly.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I paste into Smart Search?
Just about anything network or developer related. Smart Search recognizes:
- IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6) — runs geolocation, reverse DNS, ASN lookup, and blacklist check
- Domain names — runs DNS records, WHOIS, nameservers, SSL certificate, MX records, and email authentication checks
- URLs — traces redirects, checks HTTP headers, analyzes meta tags, and verifies SSL
- Email addresses — checks SPF/DKIM/DMARC, MX records, and DNS for the domain
- MAC addresses — instantly identifies the hardware vendor
- JWT tokens — decodes the header and payload, checks expiration
- Hex colors — converts to RGB and HSL with a live preview
- Unix timestamps — converts to human-readable dates
- Base64 strings, hashes, CIDR blocks, ASN numbers, cron expressions, and more
Is my data safe?
Yes. Many tools run entirely in your browser — your data never leaves your device. For tools that require a server-side lookup (DNS, WHOIS, etc.), your query is processed in memory and immediately discarded. We do not log queries, store results, or collect personal information. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Why did my lookup fail?
- Invalid input: Double-check that the domain, IP, or other input is formatted correctly.
- Domain does not exist: The domain may not be registered or may have expired.
- Rate limiting: If you have made many requests quickly, you may be temporarily rate-limited. Wait a moment and try again.
- Upstream timeout: External DNS servers or WHOIS registrars occasionally take longer to respond. Try again shortly.
If the problem persists, please let us know using the Feedback button or via email.
Do you store my queries?
No. Server-side tools process your input in memory only and discard it immediately. Client-side tools never send your data to our servers. The only data stored locally is your theme preference and recently used tools.
Is this really free?
Yes, completely free. No premium tiers, no feature gates, no account required. Probe Toolkit is ad-supported. You can manage cookie and ad preferences via "Cookie Settings" in the footer.
Can I use Probe Toolkit for commercial work?
Absolutely. All tools and results are free for commercial, professional, and educational use. See our Terms of Service for details.
What about the blacklist check — why does it take longer?
The Email Blacklist Checker queries 14 different DNS-based blackhole lists for your IP address. Each blacklist is checked individually, which can take a few seconds. You will see a progress indicator while it works.
